NI CompactDAQ (updated: 12/27/2012)

An NI CompactDAQ system consists of a chassis, NI C Series I/O modules, and software. Chassis can connect to a host computer over USB, Ethernet, or 802.11 Wi-Fi or operate stand-alone with a built-in controller. With over 50 measurement-specific modules and 1-, 4-, and 8-slot chassis, NI CompactDAQ provides a flexible, expandable platform to meet the needs of any electrical or sensor measurement system.

NI cDAQ-9171

The NI cDAQ-9171 is a bus-powered, 1-slot NI CompactDAQ USB chassis designed for small, portable sensor measurement systems. Combine the cDAQ-9171 and one of the over 50 NI C Series measurement-specific modules to create an analog output, digital I/O, or counter/timer measurement system.

The NI 9401 is an 8-channel, 100 ns bidirectional digital input module for any NI CompactDAQ or CompactRIO chassis. You can configure the direction of the digital lines on the NI 9401 for input or output by nibble (4 bits). Thus, you can program the NI 9401 for three configurations - eight digital inputs, eight digital outputs, or four digital inputs and four digital outputs. With reconfigurable I/O (RIO) technology (CompactRIO only), you can use the NI LabVIEW FPGA Module to program the NI 9401 for implementing custom, high-speed counter/timers; digital communication protocols; pulse generation; and much more. Each channel is compatible with 5 V/TTL signals and features 1,000 Vrms transient isolation between the I/O channels and the backplane.

NI cDAQ-9178

The NI cDAQ-9178 is an 8-slot NI CompactDAQ USB chassis designed for small, portable, mixed-measurement test systems. Combine the cDAQ-9178 with up to eight NI C Series I/O modules for a custom analog input, analog output, digital I/O, and counter/timer measurement system.

The cDAQ-9178 has four 32-bit general-purpose counter/timers built in. You can access these counters through an installed, hardware-timed digital module such as the NI 9401 or NI 9402 for applications that involve quadrature encoders, PWM, event counting, pulse train generation, and period or frequency measurement. Use the two built-in BNC connections to share clocks or triggers up to 1 MHz.

The NI 9214 is a high-density thermocouple module for NI C Series carriers designed for higher-channel-count systems that also need higher accuracy than the NI 9213 offers. The NI 9214 has several features that increase overall accuracy including the following: front-mounting metal terminal block (NI TB-9214), several CJC sensors in the terminal block, and component layout to minimize thermal gradients. You can use up to eight NI 9214 modules in an NI CompactDAQ chassis or CompactRIO chassis for 128 thermocouple measurements in a single chassis.

The NI 9234 is a four-channel C Series dynamic signal acquisition module for making high-accuracy audio frequency measurements from integrated electronic piezoelectric (IEPE) and non-IEPE sensors with NI CompactDAQ or CompactRIO systems. The NI 9234 delivers 102 dB of dynamic range and incorporates software-selectable AC/DC coupling and IEPE signal conditioning for accelerometers and microphones. The four input channels simultaneously digitize signals at rates up to 51.2 kHz per channel with built-in antialiasing filters that automatically adjust to your sampling rate.
